Pursuing the Target of ‘Zero Operators on the Floor’ with the Engitec Lead Ingot Caster

For many years the so-called “light” ingots have been the most common re-melt form for transporting the metal – the lead in this case – from the production point to the utilization point.
In the standard configuration, the molten metal coming from the refining kettle is delivered to the casting star where is poured into a chain of cast iron molds where it is solidified by means of cooling water properly distributed.
During the years, the efforts made by Engitec in this piece of equipment, have been addressed to the minimization of the man-power required to run the equipment and the minimization of the exposure of the Operators to fumes and atmosphere.
The Authors of this paper, will introduce the latest achievements made by Engitec, such as the skimming operations made by robotized platform, the laser marking of ingots, the robotized unloading unit for removing the finished/strapped bundles from conveyor and similar, having the purpose of improving the quality life of Operators and improving the traceability of the ingots.
